Six Delicious Healing Smoothies That Will Knock Your Socks Off!
For anyone pursuing a healthy lifestyle, especially those on the go, making your own natural healing smoothies is an easy way to get a powerhouse of nutritional value as well as essential fiber that keeps you going strong.
Before sharing some delicious healing smoothies that I’m sure you will enjoy, here are some simple tips for getting the most out of any smoothie you make.
Use Ice or Frozen Fruit
It’s a fact – those who drink thick smoothies feel full and more satisfied than those who drink thinner versions – even when the calorie count is the same! A great way to thicken your smoothie is to add plenty of ice, or use frozen fruit. I make a breakfast smoothie every morning that is full of nutritional goodness, and I use one frozen banana to make it creamy and more filling.
Use Whole Fruit Not Fruit Juice
Some smoothie recipes call for fruit juice. Instead, use fresh or frozen whole fruit. This gives you necessary fiber, and it takes longer to digest and helps ensure you stay fuller longer. Some good fruit choices for healing smoothies include bananas, mixed berries, cherries, or apples.
Use Fresh Veggies When Possible
This may not sound so good unless you’ve tried it, but fresh greens like spinach or kale blend in surprisingly well without leaving a dominating flavor to the smoothie. In return for perhaps a less than appealing green color, they’ll give you back natural vitamins and minerals that will help keep you going strong all day long.
